In addition to the importance of attention to the storage of lubricating oil, the careful treatment of lubricating oil should not be overlooked. If the lubricant is contaminated on the way from the storage warehouse to the workshop, the storage period will be wasted even if it is careful. Containers for storing a small amount of lubricating oil and supplies must be covered and kept clean, cleaned on time and used with cloth. Funnel and other lubricating utensils must be treated in the same way. Use cloth to wipe better, must not use the cotton fabric or felt which is easy to fall off fiber, because their fiber will be transferred from the vessel to the machine lubrication system, blocking the flow of lubricating oil.
Each lubricating oil shall have a special container, and the name of the oil in the container should be indicated in order to prevent mixing. The use of waste oil or dirt is contained in a labeled container until disposed. Be careful to ensure that the waste oil is separated from the new oil to avoid contamination of new oils. In general, the harmful impurities mixed with lubricating grease more serious, because the impurities in the oil can be precipitated in the bottom of the tank or the bottom of the container by manual discharge, mixing mechanical lubrication system is less chance. But when impurities mixed with grease, because impurities will not precipitate, sooner or later will enter the mechanical lubrication system.
Mechanical lubrication shall be performed by a specialist and shall be a routine work procedure.
The lubricating oil warehouse shall contain all the records of the amount of lubricant distribution, and each (set) of machinery should have a record sheet to verify the normal consumption of all lubricating oils, and should be inspected immediately if there are significant changes. The increase in consumption is usually a symptom of the lubrication system failure and needs to be checked for adjustments, which may also result in increased consumption due to excessive lubricating oil.
